Transportation

It is possible to get to Aitken Hill via bus, however the journey from the CBD is +4 hours, whereas driving is 37 minutes from the CBD.

Parking is available.

Car

Directions via the CBD

  • Take Tullamarine freeway
  • Exit at Mickleham Road
  • Turn right into Mickleham Road (head North along Mickleham Road for approximately 10kms)
  • Look for the blue Aitken Hill sign near the CFA station. Turn right into Dunhelen Lane

Grooming

  • Strictly no jewellery EXCEPT small sleeper stud earrings acceptable for females
  • No nail polish
  • No facial piercings
  • Small sleeper studs or stud earrings acceptable
  • Hair is to be tied back

Jewellery & Accessories

As mentioned above there is NO jewellery allowed. The only exception is small stud earrings for female Octopus Hospitality candidates.

Octopus Hospitality candidates must have their hair tied back in a tight bun with a black hair elastic. This is the only hair accessory permitted for candidates at Flemington.

Terms & Conditions of Presentation

The client and Octopus Hospitality client services co-ordinators are permitted to refuse your shift if your grooming is not acceptable. You will be sent home without pay if your uniform is not up to the standards set in this document.

Front of House

Food and Beverage Attendant, Barista, Bar Attendant, Retail/Cashier 

Uniform:

  • White long sleeve business shirt
  • Black tailored business pants
  • Plain black tie
  • Black polished leather shoes (non-slip/closed foot)
  • Plain black socks that cover the ankle

Other

  • Breath must be fresh (no small of food, cigarette smoke, or alcohol)
  • Ensure that deodorants/anti-perspirants are used when required
  • Any visible tattoos must be covered
  • Hair should be clean, dry, off the face and neat, no unnatural colours
  • F&B attendants to carry a waiter’s friend

Back of House

Food Service Assistant, Catering Assistant, Kitchen Hand

Uniform:

  • Plain black polo t-shirt (NO LOGOS)
  • Black tailored business pants
  • Black skull cap/black cap & black apron
  • Black polished leather shoes (no-slip/closed foot) boots are also acceptable
  • Plain black socks that cover the ankle MUST be worn

Other:

  • Breath must be fresh (no smell of foodstuff, cigarette smoke or alcohol)
  • Ensure that deodorants/anti-perspirants are used when required.
  • Any visible tattoos must be covered.
  • Hair should be clean, dry off the face and neat no unnatural colours.
  • Jewellery must be conservative

Expectations

Employees are expected to:

  • Act professional and respectful of others at all time and be mindful they are representing Octopus
  • Immediately notify management if they are aware of any policy breach by another employee
  • Smoke only in the designated smoking areas

Employee’s Must Not:

  • Consume alchoal during a shift
  • Smoke in the workplace and/or during shift, except on break in specifically designated areas
  • Display any kind of aggressive, rude, violent, or in-appropriate behaviour
